What’s it called if you have a book that you write in frequently in order to document your various thoughts? Ok, now that you have that word in your mind, what’s it called when you write an entry in that book?

Is it called a diary?

No.

It’s not called a diary. The diary is the entire book. You don’t go and write a diary when your best friend goes away to camp and leaves you alone. That’s called a diary entry.

Similarly, a blog is a “web log”, meaning it’s a log on the web. And just as one doesn’t write logs when something happens, you don’t write blogs either. Once again, blogs are the entire website — not individual posts. This isn’t difficult, folks.

Anyway, I blame MySpace. You should too.

Let’s review:

1. His big movie, “The Passion of the Christ” was criticised for being anti-semitic.
2. He vehemently denies these accusations.
3. He gets arrested for drunk driving and goes off on a total anti-Jew tirade.

I like Mel Gibson — perhaps less so now that he’s become an ultra right-wing Christian — but I still like him. For him to deny that he dislikes Jews, however, after making a movie that clearly casts them in a negative light and then utterly bashing them in a moment of reduced inhibitions is extremely dishonest, at best.

I mean, the guy’s getting so lame as to claim he didn’t mean those things — as if he’s never had those thoughts and doesn’t know where they came from. Alcohol magnifies emotions, but I don’t thing it’s capable of creating new ones. He said those things because he feels them — at least at some level — and to deny this is as bad (or worse) than the feelings themselves.

I feel bad for him having issues with alcoholism, and I hope he gets help with that. Even moreso, however, I hope he comes to terms with his dislike of “the Jews” and finds a way to deal with his feelings on the matter.

So I just got back from a week of training in Plano, Texas. It was pretty nice, actually — really upscale. As it turns out, the Dallas area is known for its shopping, and my experience definitely supported that claim. There was nothing but malls out there…one after another.

The county Plano’s in is the richest in Texas, and within the top 1% in the country. The city was extremely clean and was pretty much back to back malls and office parks. There are tons of businesses up there. CDW, Pepsico, and McAfee, to name a few that I saw in Plano.

Anyway, it was a good week. Got some decent training and got to see another city.

These people are going through Gmail and Spamassasin filters like they aren’t there. I guarantee you they’re all stupid rich, too. I’ll know tomorrow if I got the syntax right…

Ok, it’s a minor issue, to be sure, but it bothers me so I’ll mention it.

I hate when I go to a training session where the instructor has a 500×400 foot screen that they’re showing content off of, and then they proceed to hand out that same content in a workbook and expect you to follow along as they change slides.

(long sentence)

Ok, so the content is the same, right? And you have a giant phucking screen with the content on it, right? So why in the hell are you so preoccupied with whether or not I’m following along in my book? I can’t look both places at once, and if it’s going to be one or the other I’d prefer the one that has lowercase letters the size of a sheet of printer paper.

Sheesh…

I can’t get into soccer. To me, they mostly take turns losing the ball, and seem to take shots on goal very infrequently. This, of course, leads to very low scoring games. Great, 0-1 with 5 shots taken in an hour and a half.

Don’t get me wrong, when there’s a brilliant drive that comes screaming down the field, and it culminates with a powerful strike on goal (even if it misses or is blocked) — that’s exciting. My problem is that this constitutes like .07% of games I watch. I watched like 10 games during the World Cup and it was mostly an exercise in frustration.

Of course, I am into MMA, so maybe my standard for action is a bit too high.

I don’t understand how you can take two moderately organized cords, drop them into a bag, and then extract them like a day later and have them be in absolute knots.

It doesn’t seem mathematically possible. Where does all the motion come from? Are these things snaking through each other while I sleep?
