Ok, just to reiterate — I’m not into conspiracies. I tend to disbelieve in them. But this is startling.

According to an article at cooperativeresearch.org, Michael Springmann (seen above), who served as the head of the U.S. consulate in Saudi Arabia between 1987 and 1989, is claiming that he was repeatedly ordered to issue U.S. passports to people who didn’t qualify due to security reasons.

Who ordered his boss (thus him) to give the passports anyway? The CIA.

From the article:

In one case, two Pakistanis apply for visas to attend a trade show in the US, but they are unable to name the trade show or city in which it will be held. When Springmann denies them a visa, he gets “an almost immediate call from a CIA case officer, hidden in the commercial section [of the consulate], that I should reverse myself and grant these guys a visa.” Springmann refuses, but the decision is reversed by the chief of the consular section.

Springmann realizes that even the ambassador, Walter Cutler, is aware of the situation, which becomes “more brazen and blatant” as time goes on. On one occasion Springmann is even told, “If you want a job in the State Department in future, you will change your mind.”

And most disturbing…

This visa system may have continued at least through 9/11, and 11 of the 19 9/11 hijackers received their visas through Jeddah (see November 2, 1997-June 20, 2001), possibly as part of this program (see October 9, 2002 and October 21, 2002).

Um. Ok.

• A guy with enough integrity to be hired as head of a U.S. consulate is making these claims.
• He says he denied Visas to people for security reasons and had them overridden by the CIA.
• The EXACT SAME OFFICE HE WORKED AT issued passports to 11 of the 19 9/11 hijackers.

Ok, we all know there’s crap on the Internet. Maybe this is crap. But why are none of the major media outlets talking about this? There are only three options:

1. The story is utter crap. It’s been investigated by real reporters and it’s bogus.
2. Nobody in the major media outlets has heard about it yet.
3. They’re all aware of it and have been told not to say anything.

So which is it?

I am not a conspiracy guy, but I just had a scary thought.

Many of us have heard about some guy who is betting nearly 1 Billion dollars on a massive stock market crash. Well the trick is that it has to happen by September 21st or they won’t get their money. So their bet is that it will happen between now and then.

Naturally, insider trading comes to mind. In other words, what if someone knows that something big is about to happen? There’s a lot of speculation about this all over the Internet, but most of the talk hinges on something happening financially before then.

But what if it’s not a purely financial event? What day falls between now and then? Uh, September 11th. So what if there’s some kind of pre-planned event that’s going to go down between now and then that’s going to rock our economy? If someone were to know about that in advance it’d be pretty smart to do what they just did.

Stupid conjecture, to be sure. But with all this stuff going on in the world and September 11th coming up it’s worth thinking about for at least a few seconds before you dismiss it as lame.:
