So I’m pretty enthused right now — I’m using the new, very beta, universal binary for Firefox. And yes, it’s way faster than the PPC version — as would be expected.
All I’m waiting for now is some widgets that make this thing look like Safari or Camino.

Nice! My MacBook arrives tomorrow, so I’m stoked this is finally available. Thanks for the head’s up :)

Seems to be ripping on my 1.33ghz G4. Placebo? (i was running the 1.5.1 Deer Park build).

Not sure, but very interesting. Maybe it’s just better code?

Yes, it’s definitely noticeably faster. I don’t get those nice Deer Park buttons anymore though =(
Maybe this is silly, but I wonder if all universal binaries will run faster…?

My Macbook finally arrived :D I can’t tell if deer park is faster, since everything is faster for me now. But you mentioned you were looking for a “widget” to make the browser look more like safari? I’m not sure what you mean by “widget”, but my preferred theme is from http://takebacktheweb.org/ –I use “Grapple (Eos)”, but you might want to scroll down a bit and check out “GrApple (Brushed)” :)

So you’re liking your new system? I love mine. You should see my framerates in WoW. Wicked.
Anyway, let me know how you like it. And yeah, I use that theme as well, but the widgets (the form fields and buttons, etc) aren’t as nice as in Camino or Safari. Hopefully that’ll change soon.

I’m really liking it so far. It’s a huge improvement over my second gen. 12″ PowerBook :) The only thing that’s taking some getting used to is the keyboard; I’m so not used to having the extra realestate on the sides of the unit. I keep moving my hands to the outer edges and it throws off my typing. That, and my GMail notifier doesn’t seem to want to work correctly, even though it’s the Universal version. Whatever though. I don’t play video games at all, so I can’t relate to your impressions of Warcraft framerates–I needed the upgrade for the power to handle all of the RAW files I’m shooting these days :) All in all, I’m happy to have spent the money. I think I’m going to need to spend even more now that they’ve released Final Cut Studio as a Universal …
