The Evil Puppy of Death and Decay
A Message to Fundamentalists
If pictures of puppies make you upset you shouldn’t be living in a Western country. We respect your right to be offended by Western culture, but we don’t respect your right to be offended by Western culture when you’ve chosen to come here and harvest its benefits.
You came here because you weighed the advantages and disadvantages of living here vs. living in your homeland. You chose to live here. By doing so you have accepted, to whatever degree, that our culture produces advantages that yours does not. As such, it is wrong for you to come here for the benefits we offer and then try to reshape us in your image.
Quite simply, you can’t have it both ways. Either embrace the culture that yields the advantages you enjoy or reject the entire package and return to your home. We happily accept voices of change when they come from our midst, but what you are proposing is that we should change our way of life not for fellow Westerners, but for outsiders who would prefer that our way of life did not exist.
We reject this outright.
We welcome you as new Westerners — as new citizens of our way of life, but not as hostile agents of a closed, dogmatic system who desire our undoing. Please make a choice. Either embrace our open and loving culture as one of us or feel free to criticize us from afar. All we ask is that you don’t use one hand to fight us while accepting our gifts with the other.

excellently put.
there’s no room for intolerance of this kind. especially when the whining is used a a form of social leverage for whatever purpose. puppies on a postcard being somehow focused as an insult against muslims isn’t just an incomprehensible thing to westerners, but a basic attack on simple western ideals, in art, communication, marketing, and cultural values that we place on canines in our society.
let the randomly angered person, be he muslim, jew, or gentile, show their colors. we have outgrown our awkward “politically correct” phase into a mature and even headed, and even handed, level of sensitivity that won’t unjustly mistreat or disregard whole demographics. let them make such petty complaints, if only for them to find out how they misrepresent their religion when the seasoned citizen of their faith explains it to them simply that “things like that aren’t done here.”
because we don’t just like our dogs, we love them.
besides, i thought it was mohammed YOU weren’t supposed to show pictures of. personally, i’ll draw the line there, just for diplomacy’s sake. if it doesn’t show, i’m not muslim. i don’t follow your faith, nor do people you live around need to follow your rules by reason of only being your neighbors. so don’t push it.
the vulcans are written to say “live long and prosper.” i mean, they aren’t even real and that doesn’t sound bad. it certainly doesn’t sound like “i’m offended by puppies.”

Are you not assuming that these Scottish Muslims are not multi-generation Scotts?

One of your best written posts yet. I think this should be printed in bulk and distributed along the southern US border.
