Well, Paul Graham has done it again. Stop what you’re doing and go read this essay. Here’s a quote I liked a lot:
“The test of whether people love what they do is whether they’d do it even if they weren’t paid for it– even if they had to work at another job to make a living. How many corporate lawyers would do their current work if they had to do it for free, in their spare time, and take day jobs as waiters to support themselves?”

Great Paul Graham wisdom…
My thoughts, life is to short to do anything that you are not passionate about, including a job (or a marriage/relationship for that matter).
Stolen quote from unknown: “The best job in the world is the one tht you would be willing to do for free, but are lucky enough to get paid to do it.”

I love I.T. and, specifically, InfoSec.
It’s what I’ve done for almost all life — at least since my late teenage years. I’m more passionate about it than nearly anything else, including my fiancee (according to her).
I simply couldn’t imagine making a life altering decision such as suddenly deciding to get out of the I.T. field and do something else for the rest of my life.
And yes, I’d still do it even if I weren’t getting paid.
