  • How about something else:

There is no basic need based on money.
Cleaning saltwater for human consumption will on enable us to begin depletion of yet another resource.
You can't conquer diseases because new ones will arise.
Energy problems will always exists, because they make a select few a huge amount of money.
As long as we multiply to the extend current trends show then there will be humans struggling for basic needs.

    How about this:

Though wars often SEEM to be about ideology, they are usually about something more primal -- basic needs for resources. Water is abundant on this planet, but most of it has until recently been unusable for drinking .. it's full of salt. Removing that salt is becoming less expensive and easier. I predict that not so far in the future, water will not be a scarce resource anywhere it is needed. I predict that not so far in the future, most known diseases will be conquered. (Use one of those $1000 computers whose calculating ability exceeds the entire human race.) I predict that not so far in the future energy problems will be a thing of the past (this is the prediction I am least confident in). I predict that when people are not scratching for survival, it will not be so easy for those with evil intent to sway the masses to their side. I don't think that the future is so bleak.

PS At least one thing in the video was wrong. Even if technological knowledge doubles every two years, it doesn't mean that half of what is learned in ones freshman year is outdated by the junior year. This just doesn't follow logically from the premise.
