What Parts of Your Identity Are Practical vs. Ideal?

  • I had this conversation with a friend last weekend. He is in his 30s and just met his dad for the first time. He was taken back by how much he and his dad were alike. He thought we all could forge our own destinies, but he is rethinking that after seeing how much of him is his dad.

    How can you engage in reductionist thinking about your persona? Isn't the complexity and interplay what MAKES you unique? If everyone was merely a list of traits and skills, then we'd all be EXACTLY alike, and trust me, I've yet to meet someone identical to me.


    Sometimes, you can be overly analytical....Just be you, and if someone doesn't like it, tell 'em to rack off. You get to define your own reality, no-one else.
